Default Window Pane Palm and Parlour Palm growing. Aid Please.

I'm a college student and my dormroom is rather empty. I figured it would be nice to grow something and decided on the Window Pane Palm and the Parlour palm due to their size, shade, and care requirements. The seeds will probably be sent to me with in a day or so, and I'm wondering what I need to get in terms of soil and any care instructions anyone might know. If you can provide links to information or online stores where I can purchase the soil and other such things, that would be great. Thanks everyone.

Well first you will want to germinate the seeds. Soak the seeds for two days. Add a drop of chlorine or some type of sterilizing agent to get rid of any fruit bits on the seeds. If the seeds have shells on them, I would remove the shell before soaking. Once you have done that you will want a sterile medium (soil) like perlite or vermiculite or pete moss. Or the stuff they have one here works. The palm soil for cactus. Miracle Grow. Its steril and will work. If not you can buy pete moss or perlite pretty much any where. Put the soil in a ziplock container and place the seeds on top. PLace wet paper towel over the seeds and soak the soil a little more. Close the lid and place in a warm area. There are lots of information on here about germinating seeds. Check out the other threads about germinating seeds. Let me know if you need more help.

When you say soak them, do you mean like place them in a bowl of water? Or do you mean just keep them damp? Thanks!
