Default Canary Palms Winter Damage.

I have three large Canary Palms that have been damaged for the last three winters. Each year they produce less fonds. This year I am going to move them from the front of the house where there is a strong north wind and temps below 17F in the winter. I am hoping that the pool screen in the back of the house will provide some protection. I think that the wind chill is causing all the damage rather then the low temps. Any suggestions? I live in Ocala, Fl. where the temps are below 17F and winds gust of over 30 mph for about two weeks of the winter. I would rather not use covers, but have considered rainproof infrared heaters.
