Default Indentify this palm -just bloomed after 40 years

I hope someone can help indentify this palm. The plant is at aleast 40 years old and this year it bloomed the very first time with small white flowers. The plant is around 9 feet tall with a single stalk. The plant is very top heavy and must lean againt the wall for support (it alsot has a few stakes to help support it. It has always been inside. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The trunk look like it had been cut down and allowed to regrow at some point in its life.

My palm(ti)plant bloomed this year also. It was the 3rd time it has bloomed in 15 years.(in fact, I joined this sight today to see if anyone else has ever had this happen) My plant was so fragrant at night the whole house smelled. I was given this plant as a gift many years ago my friend purchased it when it was very small from a home improvement store it has gotten quite large and I have cut the top off many times so it continues to fit in my home (you can root the tops easily by simply putting them in water)I guess we are lucky our plants seem to like us enough to show off!
