pruning foxtail palm tree

How do i prune this palm tree, or do I let it self clean and let it shed its old leaf. Its kind of an eye sore right now....

Foxtail Palms Shed their own leaves?

That is neat and I never knew that. I guess is it the same with the Christmas Palm Too?

The foxtail is self-cleaning. However, you may cut off the palm fronds if you want, particularly if you have plantings below that may be damaged when the frond falls. However, cutting off the leaves will delay the time it takes for the "sleeve" to separate from the tree.
