Keys Thatch Palm - thrinax morrisii - leucothrinax morrisii

I read they changed the name of thrinax morrisii to leucothrinax morrisii. I wonder why they did that. They should have just kept it the same thrinax morrisii. BY the way I have never seen one of these and aren't they supposed to be native to florida? Anyone have any images of some they have in there own yard or on the road? Not ones on google or anything, I already have seen those. Where could one buy one of these too?

A Caribbean palm, popular in southern Florida, known as the Keys thatch palm, has been identified as belonging to a new genus, the UK’s Guardian newspaper reports.

The palm, previously known as Thrinax morrisii, is now classified as Leucothrinax morrisii – the only species in the new genus.

US researchers moved the palm to its new classification after analysing its DNA.
