What is a Hybrid Palm Tree?

New to the palm tree thing... My name is Charles and I would like something for where I live. I live in New York and I want a few palm trees for my house. Any suggestions? Would a Hybrid palm tree be better, whatever it is?

hola charles im new too but i really like this one palm tree called a flame thower! its totally awesome and exotic, you could use that for your house but if you want a hybrid i dont know what that is so sorry about that but you should def check that flame thrower palm out!

It would not tolerate where you live Charles. I would suggest something a bit more cold hardy such as the windmill palm, or the takil, or Pindo palm trees are good as well. The sago palm but that is a Cycad. and there are many others. A hybrid is when two different palm trees polinated each other and the female produces fruit which will contain a seed that will there for turn into a new species of palm. This takes a while. You would be better off with a cold hardy palm.

Realpalmtrees RPT has a bunch of cold hardy palms and there's a few other places but in my opinion I don't fee like i can trust those other ones.
