Palm Tree Look alikes?

What type of palm tree look alikes are cold hardy? Is there a banana palm that can withstand negative temperatures?

musa basjoo (a banana ) should do good if you mulch heavely in winter but not below minus 15 id say

Mule palm is a coconut look a like. Cold hardy down to 14F zone 8

Yes 14F. In fact Dr. Merril Wilcox has recorded his down to 10F. With minimal damage. The ones in the united kingdom are doing very well. I will scan some more photos in for you there was a post on another board with photos of Queen palms fried by this winter with bright green butyagrus sitting right next to them.
