Question Pennsylvania Palm Trees are beautiful, just have one question though...

How the heck do they survive the winter here? I saw a palm tree driving home from work and it was all wrapped up in burlap with some palm leaves sticking out. I would like some palm trees as well in my yard, I am just skeptical about having actual palm trees in my yard without dieing! I called customer service and they assured me about the winter palm trees and how they live through snow, but can anyone from PA let me know whats the best course of attack. Thank you in advance.

Default I have also seen some palm trees in downtown Philadelphia

I have two small palms indoors in our front entry and they do fine, my wife takes them outside during the spring and brings them back in during the winter. Today was one of the warmer days we've had in a long time.

On another note, I cant believe the Steelers lost the Superbowl and whats worst is that Ben was smiling after the game. I felt like he just gave up and considered it just another game. Pittsburgh needs to change alot if we plan to make it again next year!

Cool PA palm trees are all over the place, especially at the gardens

As Nike says, "Just Do It". Go to real palm trees home page and then click the box where it says, "Did You Know" and the lady holding the red clipboard next to the USDA map. It shows the three types of palms that would do good in our area. I think one is called the European palm, windmill palm, and cabbage palm.

The gardens by my home have a couple of windmill palms that are about 6 or 7 feet tall, its a tradition to go their for spring and take pictures with the family. The flowers and roses are gorgeous as well. I cannot wait to take another vacation, maybe this time to the Bahamas. Nassau is starting to get a little overcrowded with tourist and has lost the traditional Bahamas appeal. I think when Atlantis went up, so did the tourist and the only thing that went down were the Bahamas traditions.

Great family time in the Bahamas!

Default PA palm trees...

Thank you very much for all the info... I am going to purchase one today thats why I am on here. Actually purchasing two for outdoors, 6 footers. I think they will do great after looking at the winter palm trees area. Palm trees under snow and surviving is an amazing thought.

I have never been to the bahamas and would love to go.

Default PA palm trees... let us know how they do philly eater

Atlantis is wonderful, mainly due to their golf courses, I can't believe you don't like it there. Best time to go there is this month, no lines for the kids and the activities, do not have to wait for slow golfers etc. The restaurants cater better and the the service is great. I am an avid Atlantis Bahamas Fan! We spent about 5 Grand for 10 days and had all the luxuries imaginable.

Hey Philly Cheese Steak Eater, they survive because they can adapt to the winters and they grow thick fibers around the trunk. Almost like the fat content off of a cheese steak to an artery. Back in the days, I used to be able to eat a foot and then down some coke afterwards, now I am lucky if I get half down my gullet. Also the wife is not to happy with the amount of calories a philly has.

What part of PA do you live in?
