Unhappy L.A. replacing my palm trees with natives oaks UGH!

I was eating at a local palce and I saw a palm tree being removed for no reason and it made me start to think so I typed in enviromental news and then palm trees and when I did, I found this. Article/Story
"The city’s palm trees are vanishing. The trees are dying of old age and a fungal disease, disappearing one by one from parks and streets, and city planners are replacing them with oaks, sycamores and other species that are
actually native to Los Angeles and offer more shade, too."

Heres a link. I don know what to do to help this situation

Article

Default Why didnt they just replace the palms with palms

By taking out the palm trees, california loses an emblem. They should just replace them.

Default I wish there was a way to change their mind

Some council should get together and try to stop or reverse the oaks as soon as possible. Imagine the business which will draw a smaller crowd because it doesn't have that Hollywood vibe anymore...

Default Maybe this is why too...

When palm trees attack

Along with earthquakes, freeway shootings and Britney, Southern Californians should be aware of another regional danger: falling palm fronds. Will Campbell, who writes the [ sic ] blog, was reminded of this hazard during the weekend when not one but 17 fronds fell from the top of a nearby palm tree as he relaxed in his backyard.

"From out of nowhere comes this woooooshing sound and I crane my neck far left just in time to see what looks to be the entire top of our 60-foot palm tree crashing down on the poor loquat tree next to it. Fortunately it wasnít the entire palm tree top, just a helluva load of dead fronds."

All joking aside, people have been injured by falling palm fronds. In fact, in 2003 one tree trimmer in Westminster was actually killed when a collar of dead fronds slipped down the tree he was working on and crushed him. In Campbell's case, he was a safe distance away when the "frondage" hit the ground.

"In the wake of it really not being that windy Iím not at all sure what triggered the fall.... All I know is I hope Iím not 40 feet away the next time it happens."

-- Jesus Sanchez

Just Kidding just thought it was a bit humorous.

California Washingtonia robusta Palms or Mexican Fan Palms Should be treated like the Weeds they are. Round up any one? My Neighbor Has one in his yard 4 houses away and I am constantly pulling new seedlings out of the ground arround my house There very invasive Palms and who wants a palm thats 70 feet of trunk and 15 feet of dead hazard waiting to fall. The Beach Communities love them in San Diego, But after every storm the street Is full of fallen frawns not to mention all the damage they do when they hit your house or your car or land on your head. I rate these Palms a 1 on a scale of 1-10 10 Being the Best.
