Fireplace

My fireplace needs something to stand out and I was thinking about placing a palm tree. Now, I know this sounds rather dumb but are palm trees flammable or is this even a good idea?

That sounds like a cool idea. I did look it up since I was curious and found that palm trees are flammable especially when they are dried out. This website will tell you more about flammable plants http://www.cityofvista.com/departments/fire/VegetationManagement.cfm.

Well Palm Tree's are flammable indeed, but it can be avoided & used for a beautiful display according to all of the positioning..which you'd have to compromise in order to be safe. Don't you wish there was a fire tolerant plant!! Haha

Of course you dummies. Palm trees are not flame retardant like any tree or plant they will eventually catch on fire however they are not any more flammable than a couch bed or home. Im no firefighter but I use common sense when it comes to things like these. Any way glad I could help. Anyone know how close I can put my Areca palm to my fireplace without it getting too heated 5 feet, 10 feet,? THX
