What kind of Plam is This? I don't see them too often. Looks like somthing from Dr Suess. Thanks

It actually not a palm at all.
It is in the Agavaceae (agave) family. Its botanical name is Beaucarnea recurvata, more commonly known as a "Ponytail Palm" or "Elephant Foot Palm".
You do not usually see them that large because for one thing that one is on the older side, and second, they get a VERRY LARGE footprint/trunk base, sometimes as much as 6 feet in diameter. They do get much bigger than that one; that one will definitely outgrow its area. Jerod SurfCityPalms |
