OLD MAN PALMS are so Expensive

Because they first come from cuba. That alone is rare. ITs hard to get anything from Cuba or to grab their ag plants. Again the seeds are hard to get as well. So the cultivation here in the US is minimal. They look great. Something no one has seen at least I have never seen one in person, just pictures. These palms are really for palm tree enthusiasts or people who like expensive things.

Old Man Palms?

My friend just gave me a beaked yucca..

It is very expensive as well and about four feet tall. I think palms are expensive because the amount of time it takes to grow them and the amount of nutrition and care it takes to get them that size. The Beaked Yucca my friend gave me , he said it is over ten years old.. thats along time to have a plant...

They originate from Cuba & in the US cultivation is at a minimum for these..so reason-being there so highly priced is because of the beauty of the Palm, & the fact that it's a rare :]

Oldman Palms are expensive because;

They grow so slow on average it will take 10 years for this tree to grow 5 feet! The Oldman Palm is frequently planted as an ornamental and the leaves are used for thatch. The oldman palm tree is very easy to maintain and prefers growing in partial or full sunlight. The oldman palm can also withstand temperatures as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Making it a very Cold Hardy Palm That almost anyone can have and hold one of their own. Hope this answers your question Kathy Have a Great Day!:+:
