This variety of Cabbage Palm is closely related to the medium official State Tree for Florida and South Carolina is the Cabbage Palm Tree (Sabal Palmetto). The Sabal Uresana has a few different qualities that stand above the rest. The Trunk of this Cabbage Palm is much thicker and leaves are much more bluish in hue. The leaves also tend to be somewhat leggy and does very well in most climates. The settlers lived off the heart of the cabbage palm and even made it into a famous stew that can still be found in rural areas of Florida.
