Blue Latan Palm Tree - Latania loddigesii
The Blue Latan Palm or botanically known as Latania loddigesii has very unique and striking features at different ages of its growth. Native to Mauritius Island, the Blue Latan palm when emerging from the ground have a red tint to its stems of the leaf's and have a more yellow tint to their leaves. As the palm matures the color fades from red to blue and the leaf color fades from yellow to blue. The surface of each leaf is covered with a off white waxy down, providing a silvery appearance to the palm. It is a remarkable one of a kind palm tree that will grow up to 20-35 feet tall. Latania loddigesii enjoy being placed in full sun and can tolerant any soil type conditions. They are considered to be cold tolerant to about 25 Degrees F. This Latan Palm makes a striking specimen any where it is placed and is capable being planted by the seaside due to its moderate salt-tolerance.
With proper care, the Blue Latan Palm will flourish in any setting and make a wonderful addition to your home or office.
