The easy to take care of Chamaedorea metallica or better known as the Miniature Fishtail is a Mexican native, mostly found as a rainforest understory palm tree. This is a charming understory palm that develops leaves resembling a fish's tail hence the other common name given; dwarf fishtail palm tree. Miniature Fishtail Palm makes for a great house plant due to its tolerance of low light. Miniature Fishtail Palms enjoy rich soil and can make a garden look exotic and unique.
The leaves are firm and undivided with a deep shade of green that will become dark green and almost black with a metallic sheen. Hence the most common name given to this palm; Metallica Palm. This palm has a thin green trunk ad is considered a solitary palm and does not clump. The Chamaedorea metallica palm is as tough as nails but it has one flaw or requirement so to say which is; do not allow the palm to sit in water or moist soil.
